By Day…

Working in Bristol for the Immediate Media Company, I’m front end developer on a dedicated development team for the cycling brands BikeRadar and Cyclingnews.com. Having joined a fresh team, formed when Immediate acquired both sites from their previous publisher, we’re working hard to improve upon the sites, addressing the issues we’ve inherited, and introducing new features in response to feedback and research.

I use my HTML, CSS and JavaScript skills, alongside PHP and templating, to develop new features and optimise existing ones. Working in a Git environment with an Agile / Scrum approach, we’re able to focus in and refine individual components of these huge, highly trafficked sites.

By Night…

In my spare time I tend to work with WordPress. I prefer to build my own themes from scratch, and experiment with custom functions to help further my understanding of how the platform works.

IntroDad uses a built-for-purpose responsive WordPress theme, including custom post types and templates. I came up with the idea for IntroDad in early 2014, and as well as building and maintaining the site I contribute articles alongside my good friend Andrew Gordon. We blog about a range of topics encompassing fatherhood, introversion and geeky pastimes. The site has also been a great opportunity for me to expand my working knowledge of WordPress.
